Emília Castellan was born in Brazil, on August 7th 1951, in Rio de Janeiro. At the age 12,
her first "gouache" paintings emerged, when she discovered her passion for drawing and she started
drawing portraits of her relatives. She reestablished contact with art at the age 38. Since the beginning
of her career, she already showed her talent for art. In 1994, she entered "Sociedade Brasileira de Belas
Artes" an art school, being tutored by Dario Silva. That was when she developed her painting skills, and
she had the oppurtunity to perform some pieces that required more advanced techniques.
